Where contractors and staff stay in north Bristol: Filton, Patchway, Bradley Stoke and Cribbs Causeway
Most accommodation near Filton gets booked the way a hotel gets booked: a room each, by the night, with the van left wherever the car park allows. The jobs up here don't run by the night. Your crew on the Brabazon site is in Bristol for the length of the contract, a placement at Southmead is a month at a time, and a project team at Abbey Wood is here Monday to Thursday every week until the work's signed off. The houses that suit that are in Filton, Patchway, Brentry and Little Stoke, and they take the whole team.
Where the work is
North Bristol is the working end of the city, and most of it sits along one stretch of the A38. Airbus and Rolls-Royce are at Filton. MOD Abbey Wood is next to Filton Abbey Wood station, and its contractors and consultants come back for years. The old Filton airfield is now Brabazon, a new neighbourhood going up in stages, with the YTL Arena going into the old hangars, so there's a construction workforce that needs beds for as long as the site's live, and a wave of new residents after it. Southmead Hospital is a short drive south. Cribbs Causeway, Aztec West and Bristol Parkway sit around the edge.
That's a lot of people who need to be here for weeks rather than nights, and none of them want the A38 traffic between a city centre hotel and the site.
Six houses in four areas
Filton. Two houses on Bude Road, a three bed and a four bed, on a residential street with the Filton shops a short walk away and Filton Abbey Wood station walkable. The three bed has a driveway and a garden, the four bed has its own parking. Right for a team at Airbus, Rolls-Royce or Abbey Wood who'd rather walk to a supermarket after a shift.
Patchway. Two four bed houses on the same plot on Catbrain Hill, on the Cribbs Causeway side of Patchway, each with two bathrooms, a garden and parking. These are the ones we point Brabazon and arena crews at, because the site, the Mall and the M5 are all a quick run from the door.
Brentry. A three bed house on Knole Lane with a private garden and on street parking, the nearest of the set to Southmead Hospital. Built for placements: a bed each, shifts at odd hours, and a car that needs to be off a permit street.
Little Stoke. A three bed house on Orion Drive with a garden and parking, on the Bradley Stoke side of the patch. For anyone based at Bristol Parkway, Aztec West or the Bradley Stoke estates.
We don't have a house in Bradley Stoke itself. Little Stoke is next door. Say which site you're on and we'll tell you honestly which house is the sensible one, even if that means the smaller booking.
What a team gets
A whole house, not rooms in someone else's. A proper bed each, and we never count a sofa as a sleeping space. Parking at all six, and we tell you before you book whether it's a drive or the street, so the driver knows where the van's going before the first shift. Fast wifi, a full kitchen, a washing machine, and the bills in the rate, so there's nothing to set up when you arrive and nothing to settle when you leave.
Self check in with a code, so a late finish or a six o'clock start doesn't depend on anyone being at a desk. One contact from the first message to checkout, and if the boiler goes at nine on a Sunday, that's who you message. Weekly linen on longer stays, and a mid stay clean on anything over a month.
One rate for the stay, one invoice
Nightly rates are for weekends. A working stay is priced by the week or the month, and the monthly rate is the lowest we offer. Send the dates and the headcount and we'll price the whole stay on one invoice for the company or the agency to pay. If a purchase order has to be raised first, ask when you enquire.
We don't publish a monthly price from, because a four bed with three vans outside isn't the same booking as a three bed for two engineers, and one number on a page would be wrong for one of them. Ask, and you'll have a figure the same working day.
Who else books up here
Not only contractors. Nurses and doctors on placement at Southmead take the Brentry and Filton houses a month at a time. Families relocating for a job at Airbus or Abbey Wood take a house while they decide between the new flats at Brabazon and the older streets in Stoke Gifford.
How to book
Tell us the dates, the number of people, the site you're on and whether there are vans. We reply the same working day with the houses that fit and a rate for the whole stay. You get one confirmation with the address, the parking and the check in code, and the crew can arrive straight from the site. If the job overruns, tell us early and we'll hold the house where the calendar lets us.
