Caerleon is a few miles up the Usk from our holiday accommodation in Newport, with a Roman fortress, bath house and amphitheatre to walk round, and the Fourteen Locks canal staircase is a short drive the other way. The bigger houses here take a party of twelve or thirteen, with a garden and, in one, a pizza oven.
Newport is the quiet base people choose when they want the Wye Valley, the Gwent coast and Cardiff all within reach without paying city centre rates. Chepstow, Tintern and the walking above the Wye are half an hour east, the Wetlands are on the doorstep, and Cardiff is twenty minutes by train. Our Newport properties are whole houses and flats rather than rooms, so a family or a group of friends gets a kitchen, a washing machine, somewhere to sit together and parking where the property has it. Stay a weekend, a week or longer, book direct, and cook your own breakfast instead of queuing for one.
