• Rassau Industrial Estate, beside the A465, is about 4 miles by road from our house in Ebbw Vale. G-TEM and GTS Flexible Materials are both on the estate.

• Crown Business Park in Tredegar is about 4 miles. Its 168,244 sq ft factory was bought for refurbishment with a £5.5 million loan announced in February 2025, with no dates given for the work.

• Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate in Tredegar is about 5 miles. A Jayplas plastics reprocessing site was announced there in June 2026, with full operation expected by March 2028.

• The Works, by Ebbw Vale Town station, is about 2 miles.

Road schemes, the Cwmtillery tip and Carn-y-Cefn wind farm

The Heads of the Valleys job itself is finished. The last 11 miles of the A465, from Dowlais Top to Hirwaun, re-opened as dual carriageway on 30 May 2025. What's left is 1.2km of the A4059 at Hirwaun, where Kier has the designs and surveys, and the Welsh Government expects it finished by spring 2027.

In Blaenau Gwent, the council's £2.5 million A4046 scheme between Aberbeeg and Cwm is programmed from 5 October 2026 to spring 2027, with lane restrictions and overnight closures planned. The £3 million second phase at the Cwmtillery coal tip is due to begin in early 2027. Mynydd Carn-y-Cefn wind farm, west of Abertillery, has had planning permission since March 2024, and we found no construction start date for it.

Hospitals in Ebbw Vale, Merthyr Tydfil and Abergavenny

Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan in Ebbw Vale is about 2 miles by road from the house. Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil is about 10 miles, and its £300 million refurbishment, with Tilbury Douglas as contractor, is expected to continue through to 2028. Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny is about 12 miles. The £38 million Velindre radiotherapy unit on its site is open, and parking there is free, though a space isn't guaranteed.

We run one house in Blaenau Gwent. Clover House has three bedrooms and one bathroom, and sleeps 8 as listed. The listing records no parking. One crew takes the whole house, and a crew of more than 8 won't fit. Our larger houses in Newport sleep 11 to 13.

Vans aren't promised at Clover House, which has no parking on its listing.

• Blaenau Gwent is a Special Enforcement Area. A vehicle parked more than 50cm from the kerb, or next to a dropped footway, can be ticketed anywhere in the borough, with penalty charges of £70 or £50.

• The UK Government lists seven charging clean air zones, Bristol and Bath among them. None of the seven is in Wales, so none covers Ebbw Vale.

• The A465 past Ebbw Vale is dual carriageway, the Blaenau Gwent section since summer 2015.

• Ebbw Vale Town and Ebbw Vale Parkway stations are each about 2 miles by road from the house, and Parkway has a free car park with 100 spaces. From Ebbw Vale Town, the timetable to 13 December 2026 has two trains an hour in the daytime, Monday to Saturday: one to Cardiff Central, one to Newport.
