• Hinkley Point C is about 21 miles by road from our Burnham-on-Sea house. Up to 14,000 workers are on site every day (Construction News, June 2026). With both reactors installed, the job is moving into fit-out, and EDF's February 2026 schedule has Unit 1 starting up in 2030.

• The Hinkley Point C park and ride at M5 Junction 23, Dunball, is about 8 miles by road.

• The MEH Alliance (Altrad Services, Cavendish Nuclear, Altrad Babcock, NG Bailey and Balfour Beatty) is doing the mechanical, electrical, heating and air conditioning installation.

• Hinkley Point B, next to the C site, passed to Nuclear Restoration Services on 1 October 2026. The first phase of decommissioning runs until 2038.

Gravity and the Agratas gigafactory

• The Agratas battery factory at Gravity, between Puriton and Woolavington, is about 9 miles by road. Building One's steel frame was finished in January 2026, and up to 2,900 people are expected on site in autumn 2026 (local reporting, October 2026).

• Costain was appointed in January 2026 to design and build M5 Junction 22A, a new junction for Gravity between Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater.

Bridgwater, Highbridge and the hospitals

• The Bridgwater Tidal Barrier site at Chilton Trinity is about 11 miles by road. Kier was awarded the next £101m phase of construction in June 2026.

• Isleport Business Park in Highbridge is under 3 miles by road, and the town's Greencore desserts factory has around 577 people (April 2026).

It's about 21 miles by road from our Burnham-on-Sea house to the site, though most of a crew won't drive it. Almost all Hinkley Point C workers travel to site by bus from the park and rides at M5 Junction 23, south of Cannington and west of Williton.

Is there a bus from Burnham-on-Sea to Hinkley Point C?

EDF says a dedicated Hinkley Point C bus service runs routes through local towns and villages. We couldn't confirm a current pick-up point in Burnham-on-Sea. The Junction 23 park and ride is about 8 miles by road from the house.

Are EDF's worker campuses the only accommodation near Hinkley Point C?

No. EDF's two campuses, one in Bridgwater and one on site, hold 1,496 beds between them, against up to 14,000 workers on site every day. Its plan for a further 1,000-worker campus was dropped in February 2026. The rest of the workforce lives locally, at a holiday park EDF uses in Brean or in private accommodation.

Can vans park at the house in Burnham-on-Sea?
